It has come to my attention that some Imageshack photos have banners attached to the bottom of them when posted on our forum. Some folks have said that they are viruses and others just advertising junk (is there a difference?) but I do know you don't want to click them.
You may have seen the "Do fish get thirsty" banner on the bottom of some photos - do not click on it!
I am not sure if Imageshack itself is doing this or some nefarious third party but I think the way a user posts a photo here makes the difference.
First off, it's easiest to have two different browser windows open when you do this - one for Imageshack and another for skiplane.org. Then you can switch between them easily.
Here's the deal: when you upload to Imageshack they give you all kinds of options on links to copy. The ONLY one you want is at the top of the page and says 'direct link to image' This one will be a web address that ends in .jpg DO NOT grab any of the others - including forum hotlinks, short links, or thumbnails.
Now - when you are writing your message on skiplane.org, hit the 'Insert Image' button above the box where you are typing (

) and paste your image link in between the img and /img tags that pop up.
Hit "Preview Message" before you save it to make sure it looks right.
That's it. As I look back through the posts with the problems, it seems users linked to a lot more than just the image, allowing Imageshack or whoever to post the banner (it's actually a separate file). I am trying to fix any posts I see with the problem - but sorting through takes forever. So please PM me a link to the message if you find any and I'll take care of it.
Hopefully this will solve the problem. If we continue to have any problems there are other good free image hosts to use - photobucket.com and tinypic.com to name a few.
