Snow Pix and my Video

First skis of the season, a lot of work for this little bit of snow but it's still fun

Warming up

Some of you might have bought the " Friends " flyin shirt that Lonnie Sue Johnson sells in the back of Cub Club newsletter. That flyin was done by me and Al DeRonda at the DeRonda Aerodrome in Springfield NY. It was a 3700' grass strip with a taxiway and was a great place for having a good time tearing up the country side because it was in the middle of nowhere. We had 15 flyins and we had a blast and everybody went home with all their fingers and toes and airplanes most of the time One year we had 107 airplanes, 6 OTWs and a Fleet, 7 Kinners making music.
Here's some shots at DeRonda today.

Ha, I'm looking at my first photo and realize my skis are on wrong, left and right. I installed a new UHMF keel last winter and must have stuck the rigging on backasswards  Should cant out not in.

I know some of you have this shirt, I have seen it being worn at Lock Haven and Oshkosh. The photos above are of the DeRonda Aerodrome and our friend Freddy Jackson loved the flyin so much that he commissioned Lonnie Sue Johnson to do a painting of it, and the painted was made into a t-shirt. Freddy bought hundreds of shirts and handed them out for free when ever he was at a flyin or at Lock Haven.  When the shirt was first made for the flyin the title at the bottom of the print was " DeRonda " in honor of the flyin. It's still available from Cub Club but it's the " Freinds " addition. Here's a photo of the DeRonda shirt.

PS. If the name Freddy Jackson sounds familiar he's the same guy that pay's to keep the corn at Lock Haven only $.50 and ear.

Winter bites again this year. I know that the rest of you are laughing but this is the best I can do so far this year. Hardly worth the effort but I had to have some ski fun. Please let it snow. We used to get 200" a year.

Fred mailed me copy after copy of various PA-12 mods when I had my 12. Full size sheets, most were 2 x 3 feet, took a lot of work on his part to do all that copying. I appreciated it. Not many will go out of their way that far to help you out. Jim

OK, my first editing job, started with almost 2 hrs and got it down to this, still a little long. I used the youtube editor and can move the begining foward or make the ending shorter but can't figure out how to remove stuff from the middle of each clip.

This is Joe and me heading to Parlin NH 138 miles away and then landing at island Bob's on the way back. A little breezy but an awesome day to be alive.

Loved it!!! Thanks so much for doing this vid. Most U-Tube vids bore me if they are over 2 minutes long but this one just 'flew' by.
I've got a Champ and skis but brown ground for the 2nd winter in a row. Most unhappy! Cry

If you were anywhere close to us I would say join us on the frozen lakes here in Northern IL and Southern WI.  Keep praying for the snow, we like to have some too.

My friend Kenny has a strip that scared the crap outa us the first couple times we used it 17 years ago when he cut it out of the side of a hill. We nicknamed it Bolivia. A little ski flight to Bolivia and back.
